What is a Doula?
The word 'doula' comes from the ancient Greek, meaning 'a woman who serves'. Doulas are women who are trained and experienced in providing the necessary encouragement, reassurance, physical comfort measures and non-medical advice throughout pregnancy, labour and birth. Doulas also give support to the father/partner.
As a Doula, I accompany women in labour and their partners (or single mamas) to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience.
I am a Certified birth Doula with DONA International CD(DONA).
I am currently enrolled with Gena Kirby's Master Rebozo course to help aid in comfort technique for pregnancy and labour.
I can provide reassurance and perspective to you, make suggestions for labour progress, and help with a multitude of labour positions and comfort technique.
